September will be here later this week. Do not miss the opportunity to use this pivotal swing month between summer and fall to your advantage.
Proactively schedule some time during the month to reflect upon the summer, and to then look ahead towards the final push of the coming three/four months of 2017.
Before moving ahead, pause and look back. Close out the summer properly. What were some of your most powerful memories from this summer? Who did you spend those times with? Look through the pictures. Make a deposit into your memory bank by imprinting those moments into your long term memory. You will then be able to go back and make a withdrawal of those memories when needed to help you get through a difficult time at some point further down the road.
With the start of the school year, and soon the excitement of the holiday season, our focus and our schedules will quickly be on overload. September is the perfect time to get ahead of that busyness by proactively looking forward to the Oct-Dec months, and by developing a plan for addressing the initiatives that we want to achieve by the end of the year. Plan now to succeed later.
But that isn’t the whole story. We must also always be sure that we are keeping our thoughts/plans in perspective, and in alignment with God’s direction for us, by preparing our hearts to submit to God’s will as He reveals it to us. Simply put, “Not my will, but yours be done.” (Luke 22:42)
Here’s to the close of summer, to the start of fall, and to an excellent final chapter of 2017!
