Happy New Year!!!
In January we experience the excitement/energy of a new calendar year. Many capitalize on this fresh opportunity by setting new year's resolutions. Exercise routines, reading books, improved relationships; most often our resolutions involve dedicating ourselves to sticking to some endeavor that we feel is worthwhile, but that we may have had trouble committing to in the past. We feel that the new year is a good time for a fresh start. And it is -- but let us also be mindful that a new year is not the only time that we have an opportunity to start fresh.
With great love our heavenly Father has extended an open invitation to us -- one that is full of compassion and that never fails!
"Because of the LORD'S great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness." (Lamentations 3:22-23)
Did you catch what that last sentence tells us? "They are new every morning."
As we begin the new year in January, I pray that we are energized with the excitement/promise of a fresh start. I also pray that when we feel the challenges of life start to weigh us down again, as inevitably will happen (and at which point we will see many new year's resolutions abandoned), that we remember that with the Lord's great love and unfailing compassion we will not be consumed! Let us remember that we do not need to wait for another new calendar year to pick ourselves back up and start new. With God we get a fresh start with each new morning! Trust in His promises, all the year through!
