As we enter into the month of March 2018, what is it that you are “marching” towards?
As followers of Jesus Christ we are in the midst of the Lenten season, and as such we are marching towards Holy Week which is the celebration of the event/person that serves as the foundation of our faith. The event is the crucifixion, burial and resurrection. The person is our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
We are marching towards faith, hope and love; knowing that the greatest of these is love. And what does love look like? It looks like an innocent man hanging on a cross for you, and for me.
But we are not only marching. We are also preparing to shout. On Easter morning we will once again join in with all of our brothers and sisters in the faith as we shout out in triumphant glory, and as we raise our voices in unison and declare that on that morning…
He is risen, He is risen indeed!
The energy and light that we feel on Easter morning when we see that the stone has been rolled back and that the tomb is empty — that energy and light are real, and they are powerful. But that energy, that power, are not limited to just one day each year. That same power lives in us!
“And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you.” (Romans 8:11)
So let us march, as we do each Lenten season. But this year, and every day as we move forward, let us also shout. Let us shout from mountaintops, valleys and all points in-between that we know exactly what we are marching towards! We are marching towards faith, hope and love, and we are also marching towards salvation, and victory, and eternal life that is ours through Christ. We do so through the power of the Spirit, and with the love of Christ, that lives in us. Forever and ever, amen.
“March” on with joyful hearts, proclaiming the good news through your thoughts, words and actions. And join with me in shouting our victorious cry; He is risen, He is risen indeed!
God’s blessings on your month,
